I have gloves!

I got my gloves done! Here's a few lessons for you kids:

  • Don't let projects sit around for several months, especially if you're a beginner. Not only did my gauge change - I was an obsessively tight knitter to start, so the left glove is snuggish while the right glove is obscenely loose - it turns out the cables on both gloves are twisted in the same direction, which is a no-no in the pattern.
  • Learn a new stitch the right way - the first time. I'm not sure I did the cable cast-on the right way for the pattern. But, with one glove already done, I was more concerned with making sure they looked at least somewhat similar.
  • Stitch'n'Bitch doesn't lie: if a pattern says to "pick up and knit x stitches," just pick up said stitches; don't knit them until the next round. My right glove has nearly nonexistant holes at the thumb join because I remembered this.
  • Even if you're told to do a picot bind-off, you might still want to bind off in pattern when you can.

But, hey. At least I learned. And at least I have something to keep my hands warm until I get my own pair of Dashing gloves completed. (I just started the bf's pair; I'm only three rows in and already I'm jealous.)

Another weekend of crazy work schedule coming up. Ta until after that.
