Gauge sucks

I hit a roadblock on that sweater I had planned to make. I tried casting on with size 11 needles... and the gauge totally didn't match. So I tried size 13's. Closer, but still not right. So, I'm left with a few choices:

• Knit the larger size sweater on 13's and hope for the best
  
• Buy a pair of size 15's and hope for the best
  
• Design a new sweater and hope for the best

The second option is out, because I really want to start knitting a sweater and can't afford to buy new supplies right now. I would love to make the third option work, but like I've said before, I know almost nothing about sweater construction. Grr. Maybe I'll just go with option #1, cause I still really like this pattern.

Also, it's getting cold out now. My goal is to finish my hat tonight. It's not the warmest hat, since it's just crochet cotton, but it's still a semi-warm hat. The problem is that it's on size 3 needles, so it's taking forever.

Also also, I really need to start writing down my pattern and design ideas... there are sooooo many kicking around.
